Title: Text adventure?
Post by: punipen on July 20, 2011, 11:13:33 PM
Anybody's a fan of text adventure here? Doesn't have to be a hard-core Interactive Fiction where you have to type every command though. Can be just a game that has little to no graphic and heavily rely on text.

For example of a text adventure game + RPG element, you can find one here at :

*WARNING*
Contain furry contents as well as some strong fetishes

I have a friend that would love to make this kind of game, so I was thinking of why not making an engine to let people make this kind of game easily or something. This would be best suit for writer who wants to have something interactive in their writing/novel.

What do you guys think?

Also Warning

I am ADDICTED, to Corruption of Champions. I've gone through the game as fictional characters all the way up to Sugar Shooter's cast. FOR REALS

There's a lot of stuff that unless you're, well, pansexual, that you will not like if you're just gay. But for the most part the game has options. But like I said, if you play you'll probably, eventually, have something happen that you don't enjoy. lol

But once you know of all the events like I do it gets really addicting. Especially when you go out of your way to make your character description match pre-existing characters. I've made Wolverine, even got him to be 5'3'' tall, I've made Chris Redfield, and I made Tarosuke, I even got his green hair. There aren't a lot of good hair options though so you wouldn't be able to make Sugarless. The game is still missing some options that even Nimin has implemented, and Nimin is a mess right now(yes I've played that too).

So would I want a game like this from Dudedle Studio? HELLLL- YEAH! Could I write and suggest a ton of ideas and elements, totally. Do I suggest you try out CoC? Yes, just don't grow demon horns in real life like I did. Just kidding~ You should totally grow demon horns in real life like I did.

Oh I played that one too! And yeah, it can be very addicting. I played when it still has no name, I think, so there weren't much to do, but I still spend like 1 - 2 hours on it haha.

I'll talk to my friend again and see if he's interested in making one. I might make it in HTML5 so that it can be played on all device. And if it's web-based, then iOS users can play it without having to jailbreak their devices :)

And the idea that it would be something people could use to make their own is just perfect. People are always making suggestions and personal requests on these two games. It gets to the point where everyone's obviously wanting to make something themselves. Like RPG Maker except Porn Fiction Maker?   :D

I've played the hell out of CoC lol. Though I just skip over everything that involves estrogen. It's not that hard lol. The gay scenes are written just as well as the "straight" ones, which I appreciate a lot. I've been keeping up with the development for a while; I've been really tempted to ask the author if he could possibly add in a "gay-only" option (or a way to choose specifically what genders you would prefer to interact with) later in development, but it seems unlikely OTL.

I don't like the estrogen either...And I'm not interested in making my characters having more than two nipples and two breasts!

To be honest, the main system is not difficult to make at all. But I suck at writing in English, so it must be someone's else job writing all those scenes X(

I gave my Souffle more rows of chest just to make him more dog-like, hahaha- Plus it was kinky!  :-X

I made a whole wiki, I could easily help someone with writing.

COC is too addicting. Of course I turn into a furry wolf dog in there. For some reason I like the ending on the final boss factory game over ending. The toy that she gave looks kinda fun. Wish if there are furries and other more endings in there or yet more calling puppy.

Maybe haven't gone into furry game so long already. That's why addicted selecting choices and still waiting for morenatsu game.

I just considered the breast sizes pec sizes, the maker is clearly a little one sided. lol

I don't know who calls it that, but it should just be called herm, I believe that's what it is in-game.
Then again neither term correctly applies to the art it refers to, but that tends to happen in porn.

After playing for a while you learn to save before you do a lot of things just so you don't end up getting stuck with something you don't want.

In Corruption of Champions, is there only one quest?  I already destroyed the factory, so what now?

One problem I found with this kind of game is that, with the stat you have, you can't keep the game going forever, or it would be very difficult to balance. How did CoC solve this? Is there a quest that leads to an end game? Or the game is pretty much never ending story?

I'd like to make this kind of game too, but this has always bugging me. One solution I can come up with is...

1.) When you start a game, you are randomly given an ultimate final quest
2.) After you manage to finish the final quest, you'll get an ending.
3.) After ending, you can keep playing if you want, to find events or whatever. But to get another ending, you have to start a new game.

With this, it's possible to keep adding content to the game without breaking the game. That is, adding new final quest. So people can start the game fresh with new experience everytime. Would be more fun if the final quest will determine what event you can access to in that playthrough.

Well CoC mostly uses Game Overs as the endings. Even though the start of the game seems to imply there is an ultimate goal, I think it might just not be there because the maker still has so much to add.

Also I think if what you said were the case, it would be cool to have a New Game+ where you keep everything from the last play-through, you just start over to do whatever else you want to do.

Edit: But I've played a game like The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and you can just do as many quests in the world as you want. I think that's the point of CoC and games like this. The game still has endings to certain things, it's just that there's always something else to do so there's no need to make the ending end your game. It's not like in a good outcome you die, so there's no reason to end the game when there's other stuff to do. If that makes sense.

The problem is, once you're at the end of the game, you're most likely mastered at many things, making other quests much easier to achieve. Of course, this could be solved with balancing, but it's one heck of a task to balance , in my opinion.

In my approach, you can choose to continue the game after the ending, of course. But there are things that you can't access without starting over, due to they are related somehow to your ultimate goal, or the choices that you made during the game that affect this playthrough permanently. So, you have choice of continue your character after the ending, getting all those side quests. Or start with a new character to gain another experience.

Still, the new game+ would help, since there are players who don't want to start over with new characters and go through all the grinding again since they just want to gain access to new events. New game+ should help make them start a new character easier.

Yeah, and the skills in CoC actually cause a lot of minor problems so I'm not sure about balancing.
