Well, why does the name literally have to be seen as "hunting eagles"?  Maybe it can be a sexual euphemism >:3 like, He who hunts eagles(finds another eagle and has sex with it)

tharsix(bear)- I agree. I'ts simple and suits bear's status

eagle-astraeus and knoton (especially knoton) look nice!

tanuki:tanuki's name is inclined to japanese and  imply a natural object (leaf)

before naming we should know character's background and etc....we only know husky, bear, cat
few information about lion, fox ,panther (i read these pixiv) no information about rabbit, eagle ,bull

lion-have a strong sense of justice
panther-hunger at blood
fox-mad scientist

more information!!

Well, why does the name literally have to be seen as "hunting eagles"?  Maybe it can be a sexual euphemism >:3 like, He who hunts eagles(finds another eagle and has sex with it)

For one, the guy looks like a lethal hunter. Hunting is (probably) his job, and he's good at it. So between his look and his name, he would probably be seen as one who kills eagles. Something in his back story would have to convey how his name is not literal.

Say this eagle is a vigilante, who hunts down and apprehends members of his tribe or other tribes who have broken their code of morals (so criminals, basically). When conflict arises and the threat of war looms, he uses his tracking and stealth skills to capture the enemy chieftain. But what makes him so remarkable is after capture, all of his targets are convinced to see the errors of their ways, very readily renouncing past actions and conflicts and seeking peace and redemption. How is he so convincing? Well, after a night of the wildest pleasure imaginable at the hands of the hunter, it's hard not to be convinced. For his legendary dedication to rooting out wrongdoers and preserving peace, his people have bestowed upon him the name "Makya," the hunter of eagles.

Is this back story probable? Maybe. Is it contrived and ridiculous? Maybe. It sounds like he's brainwashing people through sex. The biggest problem here is the name forces the creation of a back story. We don't really know what direction Dudedle wants to take their characters in, especially the ones with little existing back story, so we probably shouldn't look for anything that could conflict with their artistic vision of how certain characters should be like.

Given all of the names suggested thus far, here are some of my favorites:

BEAR - Tharsix grew on me, so that has my support. Although, if it's a slave name, does that mean he had a name before that which might come up in the ending or something? Unless he was born into slavery...
CAT - I think Cyrus is fine. Although Tiehan's slight change to Cyril is pretty good too; either one would work.
HUSKY - I remember before that someone suggested Volga, and I really like that name. But Vladislav is also quite good. Ha, what can I say, I think a 'V' name suits the Husky well!
EAGLE - I'm still undecided on this. Niyol, Nodin, Aquilo, and Wambli all sound good, but I can't choose just one yet.
BULL - Marduk, Ezekiel, and Darius all sound like interesting names.
PANTHER - Kakula sounds kind of wild, fitting for this guy! A page I looked at said that it supposedly means "cardamom", a type of spice. And he seems spicy, all right.
FOX - For no good reason, I really like Stuart for him. I say "no good reason" because Stuart means "steward", and he doesn't seem to be one in any way. Ah well. Beyond that, I also like Salvatore.
LION - Grrr, I don't care how silly it sounds, I liked the suggestion of Alcatraz. Didja know it's a Spanish word that means pelican?! His armor in his latest design looks kind of Gothic, so a Spanish name might be suitable. And as unfitting as a name that means "pelican" may seem, those are birds of prey. If not Alcatraz, then I like Maximus also.
RABBIT - Presto means "quickness", a fit name for a rabbit magician. Someone earlier also suggested Aaron, which means "towering, powerful".
TANUKI - Masashige, Ryota, and Sanjirou all seem like decent names.

There are also some names that I would suggest myself.

TANUKI: I'm still hawking the name Ohmori / Oomori for him. Probably with the kanji for "forest", although there are a couple other readings that would work.
RABBIT: Nicholas ("people's victory"), Basil ("king"), Dragomir ("precious peace").
BULL: Khaldun (Egyptian for "immortal").
PANTHER: Githinji ("butcher") or Zahur ("flower"... it seems ironic, but he's dressed colorfully, looks very flexible, and is probably very fertile!  Ha ha).

Tiehan

Fox: I'm not sold on Salvatore, which is Italian for "savior." It brings up questions we can't answer. Is the fox Italian or Italian-based? What did he save to be granted the name of 'savior?'

Rabbit: How much do we actually know about him? Is he good? Is he evil? Both? What role does he serve?

Lion: I'd shy away from Alcatraz. Regardless of the original meaning, reading that name almost instantaneously brings me to think about arguably the most notorious prison in United States history. Nothing in the lion's character seems to draw parallels to any of that fear or infamy surrounding Alcatraz the prison, so it is an entirely unrelated connection between the two that people are immediately forced into making.

Tanuki: I like Oomori. From what I can tell with almost no knowledge of Japanese, it means "large forest," which seems fitting. It also sounds mighty fine.

Ok. Just think where does the animals live and by looking of their clothes it tells what jobs they have in their area.

Draft of their clothes and jobs

to Tiehan:

Putting aside who gave the fox his name or why, now that you mention that it's an Italian name, I agree that something else may be better. When I was trying to determine the origin of the characters, my first impression was that the Fox looked kind of Germanic. But there haven't been many Germanic names suggested for him. I just chose what I thought sounded best from what was available.

About the rabbit: while there isn't much information presently, I believe punipen once said that he will be 'an important character' or something along those lines. And he is also consistently one of the last characters depicted; his promotion poster was revealed last, for instance. That may just be some misdirection on Dudedle's part, but it suggests to me that he'll be one of the later opponents. And given the way that he's dressed, I don't think it's too far gone to assume that he may be a nobleman of some sort. Well, that's all just speculation, but that partially informed some of my ideas.

It may be true that certain names will suggest an immediate connection, but why should that necessarily be an issue anyway? I think the problem here is that Alcatraz sounds anachronistic because of the image it conjures for people. I suppose the danger of the name sounding misplaced, especially when the original meaning is not widely known, is too great to use it. But it seems kind of boring to ignore a possibility just because the reference isn't immediately obvious to the majority. That said, upon further review, I'm starting to think that it's a bad idea to compare the Lion to a pelican, which I'd think you'd be more concerned about. Although it's a bird of prey, it's not considered a very imposing one. And it doesn't fit his motif at all. (Plus, as I have just now remembered, since this world is populated by numerous kemonos already, it would be kind of weird to give a character a name that refers to another species.)

to Wanfang:

Khaldun isn't meant to imply literal immortality. The name could suggest that he's striving towards a sort of immortality, since he appears to be a religious official. A quick search reveals that a historical figure carried the name, albeit as a surname.

Tiehan

To Phageling:

I hope we don't put too much focus on the origin of the name matching the "nationality" of the character (partially my fault for talking about etymology so much). For some it is an obvious match, like the bull or tanuki, but for others it ends up a little bit harder, like the fox or the rabbit. It probably wouldn't be bad for some of the characters to have more generic names in terms of language of origin. I think as long as there is a reason behind the name, whether it's based on the character ("He's slave number thirty-six, so Tharsix"), phonetics ("The name sounds like a growl, which is perfect for this guy") or word roots ("It means 'courageous heart' in language X"), it should be fine.

In terms of connections between names, people project what they know and feel about one object onto another of the same name. The stronger the feelings, the greater the projection. The following is going to be an extreme example and doesn't reflect at all what I suggest, but just as a thought exercise let's say we name the lion Hitler. The name 'Hitler' means 'one who lives in a hut,' so the meaning isn't inherently sinister. Now, from what I know, the lion is a skilled and valiant fighter with a strong sense of justice, which are admirable qualities. But just from the name, people are going to think of Adolf Hitler, which will color their impression of the lion, even if the two don't have a single thing in common. The immediate impression most people will get of the lion is negative because of the connection between the names, and from there it is an uphill battle to erase that first impression.

Now, would other names create such a strong impression? Likely not, since Hitler is a man bitterly hated by a large number of people. But still, there's just no need for unrelated things to be connected. Name the rabbit "Astaroth," and I'm thinking about a giant, evil, axe-wielding golem from Soul Calibur. That's not necessary.

To Wanfang:

I totally remember D&D Shadow of Mystara. Especially how elf and dwarf were classes. Good times.

In terms of the rabbit, I know he's a magic user, but there are a lot of things to note about his costume. He definitely looked sinister in the draft version, decked out in black and red. As it stands now, the outside of his costume is white while the inside is black and red, kind of like a yin/yang effect. He also possesses the scales, which suggest a balance as well (perhaps between good and evil). His cape also creates what looks like a maw, which with the red, floating daggers makes him look sinister despite the white. Interesting design, but I don't know for sure what to think. Perhaps we'll get some info from Punipen about him.

Wanfang

To Teihan:
The rabbit he might be a dark magic type of user. If you can access the secret Lab you will see his full costume. He's almost like Yugioh. Warlocks uses Forbidden arts of dark magic such as Giga Flare or Espers. Really Strong and higher than Magician.

Didn't we already name the bear and cat?

Lion:  Perhaps the lion can get a European Medieval name?  Cause he reminds me of the knights that served the church.

Rabbit: B.  I was thinking of Kyubey, and I thought, "QB".  How about we call him, "B"?
I'm willing to compromise by calling him, "V" X3
