Do you think voice actors would make the gaming experience better?

Sure, it's fun to hear what the characters would sound like

Do you think it'd be cool for the characters to have voice actors?  Post your opinion.  If yes, tell us who you'd want to do the voices for each character for the English or Japanese version.

punipen

Thank you! To be honest, we have been looking for voice actors, and we found some. However, we are not sure whether player will like the concept of character having voice acting. It might turn off some people, so we didn't continue with the idea.

I'd love to see the result of this poll :)

Okay, using only English speaking animated voice actors, I'd go with:

Prince Satan - Vic Mignogna, voiced as Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist, Junpei Iori from Persona 3, and Tamaki Suou from Host Club

Tarosuke - Sean Schemmel, voiced as Goku from Dragon Balls Z(Don't think I need to explain any more than that)
http://youtu.be/sWutRWdcxWM?t=22s

Arthur - Sam Riegel, voiced as Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003, Maki Ichinose from Bleach, and Clovis La Britannia from Code Geass
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig1VS4ik5yw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-Sw7tIuExQ http://youtu.be/BT7Svu9p4GY?t=2m35s

Souffle - Yuri Lowenthal, voiced as Ben Tennyson from Ben 10: Alien Force, Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4, and Haseo from .hack//G.U.
http://youtu.be/X8AKsqaBaME?t=53s http://youtu.be/h-2DHCTcLMM?t=38s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXmf80lK9Lo

Lord Sugarless - Dan Green, voiced as Yugi Matou & Yami Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Knuckles from Sonic X, and Hudson Horstachio from Viva Piñata
http://youtu.be/g-S4hFHkLSA?t=51s http://youtu.be/wEsbLS1zPdQ?t=1m29s http://youtu.be/18mTWoxOy20?t=1m24s

What do you think?  I'm not well versed in Japanese voice actors, so you guys will have to do it for me DX

Arthur

Hmm, it's quite a novel idea. I don't know how I would feel about it though. I guess I would have to see it in motion to decide. I mean I'm happy with just text bosses and it's kinda cool to imagine what they would sound like. But it could turn out really well.

If you did put it in you could make an option to turn the voices off in game so it wouldn't deter people who aren't interested in voices. So I guess, why not? I say it's worth a shot. Although I don't know where you would find English voice actors willing to voice an a Bara game. Maybe get some volunteers from the community lol. I'd be fine with having Japanese voice actors and English subtitles too.

I could only find the voices of the first three X(  Would it be possible for you to add clip that demonstrate their voices?  Satan voice sounds nice but I don't think Sean Schemmel would go well with Tarosuke for some reasons!

If we ever had one then I'll definitely put an option to turn off in there. As for voice actor, I have no idea where to find English one. But I found where to hire Japanese ones and they are willing to do adult game as well   ;D

*Vic Mignogna? *hyperventilating* Oh, god, n-no, NEVER. Not only does he have the ugliest voices, he himself is a terrible human being.

*Sean Schemmel's voice is definitely a bad match for Tarosuke, but I loved it for Goku.

*Can't find anything on Sam Riegel. Update: OH GOD. I'm sorry, but no voice actor that has ever voiced Steve Burnside (the ginger from Resident Evil: Code Veronica) could ever be good for anything.

*Yuri Lowenthal? Well from what I heard in Ben 10 that voice has no personality. Actually, now that I see he did Sasuke of Naruto, I know it has no personality. lol

*Dan Green? Oh jeez, one of those stupid voices where the voice actor is constantly speaking like they're on a play stage? If the voice actor has done anything from 4kids, chances are, it's awful.

Sorry I hate your choices so much, nothing personal. But if Vic Mignogna ever came close to this series I would Drop Dead. Having to hear him in Dynasty Warriors alone was agonizing.

If you could find appealing voices in Japanese alone, that'd be great. But if they're unappealing it could ruin the characters for people. So maybe if you posted the voice actors with some link to samples first that'd be good. The only problem with doin just Japanese voices is, not speaking the language, I've never really felt anything from Japanese voices in Anime and Video-Games.

As for English voices maybe going for a more direct, cheaper approach would work better. Hiring actual English voice actors could just be an unnecessary expense. I wonder how many of the fans would be able to do some voice acting? You see where I'm going with this. lol I would make a few English suggestions, but I highly doubt most of them would do an erotic game.

I don't see you offering any other ideas.  Besides, this is only supposed to be a fun activity.  You're taking this too seriously, cause how the hell are we supposed to hire those actors?

Right now, you're just trolling.

And if you want English voice actors, go to the Voice Actor's Guild

Kinky-K

Uhm? Clearly you're taking my opinion personally. Trust me, I'm not "trolling" at all.
I'll post some ideas later today though, when I get some time on my hands.

Wanfang

Wow. If you did find people to voice act for your game? What happen if they know what's the game you are making?  ??? Would they like it or not? If they're the right kind of people you found. They might ask for a free game from yours.  ;D

punipen

@Reiga
Alex sound harsh sometimes (read:almost always) but he means no harm, really. I don't agree with his opinion though, since I love Yuri Lowenthal's voice in Persona 4 and Vic Mignogna in Persona 3 ;)  I played both Japanese and English version and I love how Atlus could find voice actors that come really close to the original Japanese ones.

Also, I can't help but notice that you know a lot of English voice actors! And you know where to find voice actors for hire. Are you interested in voice acting?

@Alex
You should consider putting sugar on top of your comment next time, man.  :-\  Also, what has Vic Mignogna ever done to you? (; _ ; )

@Wanfang
Not sure about English ones, but Japanese ones they will tell you whether they do R18 stuffs or not. I don't mind giving them a free copy though!

It's hard for me to choose English voice actor though. I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qowF6M-jcg on youtube. Do you guys think Luffy's voice suit Satan?

I do have Japanese one listed as well as their sample voice acting. Who knows? Maybe we'll actually have voice acting in Sugar Shooter Fighting :D  It's always nice to hear them yell their signature move with a cut-in in the game  8)

Wanfang

@Punipen
That sounds perfect. It has lots of excitement and energy.

@punipen
It's funny that you picked a clip from the dreaded 4kids version of One Piece lol. I guess the voice actors did alright considering the butchered material and direction they had to work with. And Luffy does sound similar in both the 4kids version and the superior, faithfully translated Funimation version. :P

How old is Satan supposed to be anyway? I've never really given much thought about it but if you imagine him with of voice like Luffy he must be in his teens right? When I look at him he actually does have a pretty youngish face... I don't know how I missed this. They're all pretty youthful really. I must have been too busy staring at their bodies.  :-[

Either way I'd love to hear the Japanese voice actors you think would suit them. I have no suggestions for English voices since I can't imagine... enjoying..... SS with official English voice actors. It just wouldn't feel right. XD

p.s. I like Vic and Yuri as Junpei and Yosuke in p3 and p4 but I think that they're overused and suit some characters better than others.

Yeah, I wanted to be a voice actor.  But it's very hard to get a career as a voice actor.  So aside from becoming a physical therapist, I'm just staying as a writer, lol.

Besides, you need good voices that have high quality microphones.

But yeah, I would always plan out far ahead of how my stories will become cartoon series and how I'll advertise them and such.  It's why it seems like I know a lot about voice acting and such.

Luffy's 4Kids voice is definitely not suited for Satan.  In my opinion, Satan's voice has to sound somewhat masculine, but immature.  So it'd be deep, but a little scratchy or high-pitched.  It's a voice that can make anything sound like a sexual innuendo if it tries to.

Something like Joshua Tomar(AKA Tomamoto):  http://tomamoto.com/voice/

I made a list for the heck of it, and to show what kind of voice I think could fit each character.

Satn- Suggestion 1: Joshua Seth  http://youtu.be/zzl2MVAibjE?t=58s as Tai

Taro- Suggestion 1: Mona Marshall http://youtu.be/EHB8IcQE3eU?t=9m18s as Izzy

Arth- Suggestion 1: Todd Haberkorn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0C2KpgrSUE as Yun
Suggestion 2: Matt Hill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuODPoFWSJs as Bankotsu
Suggestion 3: Dante Basco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv2KSCtDM-4 as Jake Long, also recognized as Prince Zuko from Avatar. This isn't a very good video, and the examples aren't very good shows, but Dante Blasco still has an interesting voice.

Souf- Suggestion 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exfo8S4Msdo Skip to 4:19
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7T8oXIO-gE Clips at 1:35 4:19 5:14 13:33
This is Todd Kaberkorn, who I first suggested for Arthur. A slightly different voice here though. More sweet as opposed to rowdy.  Pardon the guy talking in the first video, I don't know what that's about. lol
Suggestion 2: Terry Klassen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JBIZTYaDww as Krillin. I think he'd do dog noises really cutely!
Suggestion 3: Sean Michael Teague http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw1f9I6Ng2A&feature=showob as Ren Mihashi(the blond)

Some of these suggestions might be good, some might be bad. I was just looking for a general feel of how the characters could maybe sound. I tried not to get too many women VAs as even though they tend to do young males well, it might be too obvious in SS, therefore off-putting.

I wish I could've gotten more examples for Satan and Tarosuke, but it was pretty hard finding voices that weren't just bad. There aren't a lot of good English voice actors for anime for roles. And the fact I couldn't even find an example for Sugarless sucks. I was looking for something that sounded young and bratty, but all of the voices were too obviously women.

The VAs I suggested for Satan and Tarosuke just happened to both do Digimon, and it was easier to find voice clips that way. I don't think Tarosuke necesarily needed a woman's voice, but it was hard to find the right kind of boyish voice for him. I thought of Spike Spencer who did Shinji Ikari of Evangelion, but it was way too whiny!

Maybe I'll be able to look for better voices from what people think of these though.

And Luffy's 4kids voice for Satan? I'm not feeling that. It's so, clownish.

And the whole Vic thing? Just PM me if you want to hear me bitch about that. ;)

Reiga

BTW, Punipen, I updated my post with vid links X3
