I haven't played minecraft. but wow he really did good on the colors he have selected. Looks like a burn marks there from an explosion?

I think I know what they are now. Those black spots are from the torches. Apparently, if you don't add the torch, you can't see anything. The black parts are where the light from the torches can't reach.
